The Winter Solstice Celebration, coming December 21st

Cultures around the world celebrate the Winter Solstice, one of the longest nights of the year, as a time to reflect on and celebrate the past year while looking with hope to the coming year. In keeping with this tradition, families are invited to enjoy Aldo Leopold Nature Center’s annual Winter Solstice Celebration on Friday, December 21.

This family friendly celebration features:
  • A  naturalist-led twilight journey through ALNC’s wetlands;
  • Nature crafts for the kids including a fun and functional pinecone birdfeeder;
  • Inspirational Winter Solstice stories from around the globe;
  • A festive bonfire and ceremonial burning of the Yule log;
  • Wassail made over a fire in the Children's Shack; and
  • Hot cocoa, yummy seasonal snacks and more!

Don’t miss this special night of joyful festivities as we look forward towards longer and lighter days.
