AT the Black Earth Campus
Registration Deadline: Thursday, January 13, 2010 (Pre-registration required)
Our Black Earth campus, located in the Driftless Region, is a wonderful place full of hills and valleys. Grab your sled (or snowshoes) and join us for an evening of fun in the snow! We’ll also cook a campfire treat to celebrate the January 11th birthday of a certain nature enthusiast we all know! Warm up around a outdoor campfire or indoor fireplace in the Leopold Lodge, have a cup of hot chocolate, enjoy a piece of cake in honor of Aldo Leopold, and explore the winter flora and fauna as you hike along the snow covered trails. ALNC will have adult and child snowshoes available on a first come first serve basis for use at this event.
ALNC members: $6/person or $20/family; Non-members: $7/person or $25/family
Owl You Need is Love!
Sunday, February 13, 2011 1:00 – 3:00 pm
AT the Black Earth Campus
Registration Deadline: Thursday, February 10, 2011 (Pre-registration required)
Bring your family and loved ones to a fun-filled afternoon to celebrate Wisconsin’s true winter romantics…the owls! Owls court through the cold, dark winter evenings and by Valentine’s Day, they are often sitting on a nest of eggs! In this celebration of owls, we’ll learn how to recognize different owl calls, make an owl craft, head outside with binoculars to see and identify Wisconsin’s other winter bird residents and even meet a live owl from the Henry Vilas Zoo! Come join us—it’ll be a hoot!
ALNC members: $6/person or $20/family; Non-members: $7/person or $25/family
